Sustainable Paper

All the paper and card we use is sourced from European Paper Mills. They use the latest Elemental Chlorine-Free (ECF) pulp cleaning technology in their plants to ensure minimal environmental impact.

The pulp used comes exclusively from Forest Stewardship Council Certified Softwood Forests where more trees are planted than felled each year.

Recycling of Paper

We are passionate about recycling paper, we collect every scrap of paper waste we generate for recycling. It uses much less energy to recycle used paper into Newsprint or

Packaging than it costs to start with Virgin pulp and make these commodities. Newsprint and Packaging are ideal products to make from used paper because it does not matter if they are not perfectly white.

Recycled Paper

It is very easy to confuse Recycling of Paper with Recycled Paper. Rather than simply jumping on the Public Relations 'Green' Bandwagon we have taken the advice of Ecological experts and decided not to use Recycled Paper or Board for any of our print products. We have also decided not to offer Recycled Paper as an option.

We understand that at first sight it must seem rather a perverse conclusion. How can we claim to be 'Green' and not use Recycled Paper? It seems logical that if Recycling of Paper is a good thing then Recycled Paper must be good too!

However the problem is the two statements don't necessarily go together!

The reason is that a cocktail of Eco-unfriendly chemicals are required to clean used paper to a standard acceptable for use as paper for print.

It is much better to use new pulp to make clean white paper and then recycle that paper, once used, in to newsprint and packaging board where a high degree of whiteness is not a consideration.
