Making the move from mainstream – How VizThink Europe united an exciting community
VizThink is for anyone with an interest in visual communications. It brings together trainers, marketers, presenters, executives and strategists who share an interest in the power of ‘visual’ to aid understanding and communication. The next VizThink event in London is on 15 January – come along and see what it’s all about www.vizthink.co.uk
From 12-14 October 2008 a talented and diverse group of European “visual thinkers” descended on the Berlin Crowne Plaza for the inaugural European VizThink Conference. Pre-conference workshops covered starting your own business, practical applications of visual thinking and panoramic planning. This was followed by two days of seminars uncovering and exploring the wide range of visual tools, methodologies and teachings of “visual thinkers” and their strategic applications in business.
Cognac’s Ellen hosted a session on ‘What does the Visual communications industry look like?’ - sharing the results of a research project to create a big picture that defines and maps the visual communications industry and incorporating our biggest ever live feedback session.
The results enable businesses to understand not only the extent of visual tools and skills available but to identify which type of tool will help their business to succeed. (email for more information)
The common themes running through the conference were of creativity and community. Dutch, Danish, English, German, Norwegian and Spanish were amongst the nationalities represented and energy levels were high as creative ideas and strategic applications were explored, debated, learned, and shared.
For a taste of the fun, check out the photos and the antics of one of the friends we met, a character named Peppet (from our friends at JAM Visuals in The Netherlands) as he took a tour on the UBahn in Berlin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BKIK_gvHyI
